Astro Cut™ or H & A cut? GHI or DEF? Stone size? A Detail guide for first timer

COLOR

For color, DovEggs use F-G in GHI and D in DEF, so you will not able to see any obvious yellowish in either color option,

It is more of a personal preference from the customer feedbacks as we found from customer feedback, but GHI does become more popular because our higher quality standard on color and it is more cost friendly.

Stone size

It is always difficult to find the right size. However, we do have some suggestions for you on choosing the perfect size.
1. Go to a jeweler to try different carat sizes to find your perfect size, do remember to ask the measurements of the stone, different gemstones measured differently, moissanite is measured by mm, so please make sure you know the measurements of the stone. 2. Draw or use a paper to cut into the shape and size, visualize it on your hand. We found lots of customers using this way to find their perfect size and not a one go wrong, we know it is kind of funny, but how creative it is! :)

CUT

Round

1. Hearts & Arrows (H&A) is an abbreviation of the “Eight Hearts & Eight Arrows” cut, and is also known as the “Brilliant Cut”. It is the most classic and expensive cut, and is the cut that DovEggs has been focused on for 5 years. It shows Moissanite’s brilliance and fire more than any other cut.
2. Astro Cut™ is a series which features the most diamond-like appearance, based on customer feedback. Astro cut™ is a cut we developed by DovEggs mean to resemble diamond more, it was mixed by the crushed ice cut and the old European cut. It shows less brilliance than H&A. For the round shape, the old European cut shows more in the Astro cut™.
3. The Portuguese cut is a cut with the pattern of a sunflower, has many tiers and facets, is very suitable for colored moissanite stones, and shows great brilliance. It is available in our colored moissanite collection, and several flowery designs in clear moissanite as well.
4. Crown Arrow cut™ is a series which features the most brilliant moissanite. The Crown Arrow cut™ is also H&A, but is top 10% cut range of their H&A stones. The cut is the most essential factor which determines the quality of Moissanite, therefore Crown Arrow cut™ also represents the top 10% in quality, and is guaranteed to show the top brilliance & fire of a moissanite stone.
5.The Nova cut was developed by DovEggs, combines 3 different cuts, and is meant to best showcase moissanite's unique sparkle. The round Nova cut contains 129 facets, which is the most facets out of all cuts currently available on the market. It contains small sparkles all over the stone. The name of this cut was suggested to us by one of our customers, Stella Brown, and voted on by our inner group of loyal customers together.
6.The old European cut has 58 facets, reasonably symmetrical, with an octagonal central table, a deep pavilion, and a high crown. These facets are larger and thicker, with a smaller table and a thicker crown. There is a large pointed bottom that can reflect light and allow more light to escape from the bottom. They are easily identified by the small circle in the center of the stone tabletop.

Oval
1. Hearts & Arrows (H&A) is an abbreviation of the “Eight Hearts & Eight Arrows” cut, and is also known as the “Brilliant Cut”. It is the most classic and expensive cut, and is the cut that DovEggs has been focused on for 5 years. It shows Moissanite’s brilliance and fire more than any other cut.

Astro cut™ is a cut we developed by DovEggs mean to resemble diamond more, it was mixed by the crushed ice cut and the old European cut. It shows less brilliance than H&A. The Oval Nova cut contains 97 facets, which is the most facets out of all cuts currently available on the market. It contains small sparkles all over the stone. The name of this cut was suggested to us by one of our customers, Stella Brown.
4. The crushed ice cut is characterized by its unique facet pattern that creates a multi-dimensional fire that resembles broken ice or shattered glass, which is why the crushed ice cut sparkles more than the average cushion cut stone. The purpose of this row of facets is to reflect light in different directions, which means that the light bounces around the diamond rather than returning directly. More scattered fire colors give people the appearance of "crushed ice".

Princess
1. The princess H&A cut based of four bevels shaped like two letter Vs. The pyramid shape and bevel release the fire and reflection effect of moissanite, fully reflecting light and making the fire more brilliant. It is the brightest cutting method among square gemstones.

Heart
1. The heart H&A cut generally has 59 facets. It is based on the pear-cut and is carefully polished with an inclination angle on the top. The heart-shaped cut is the most difficult and most labor-intensive fancy cut. Likewise, heart-shaped cuts also have strict requirements on cutting proportions and symmetry. Its shape is romantic and dreamy, symbolizing love.

Marquise
1. Marquise Modified H&A cut is a bright boat-shaped cut with pointed ends. The length-to-width ratio of a common marquise cut is about 2:1. The shape that narrows from the center to both sides can also bring out the slenderness of the fingers. Its characteristic is the sharp corners at both ends, where the inclusions can be better concealed, and the shine at the sharp corners is extremely high. Marquise cuts may have a more obvious bow tie effect.

Emerald
The Emerald uses the standard Step Cut as a default (rectangular or square) and has facets that graduate from the stone’s face like a set of steps. It shows greater and clearer brilliance due to larger facets compared to other cuts. It also shows the clarity & color of the stone more clearly.

Asscher
Standard Asscher uses the standard Step Cut as a default (rectangular or square) and has facets that graduate from the stone’s face like a set of steps. It shows greater and clearer brilliance due to larger facets compared to other cuts. It also shows the clarity & color of the stone more clearly.

Octagon
The octagon is indeed a popular shape for gemstones. Gemstones cut into an octagonal shape feature eight straight sides and can vary in the number of facets based on the specific cutting style.
